WORDS ARE TRAPS

A koan is a paradoxical anecdote or riddle used in Zen Buddhism to demonstrate the inadequacy of logical reasoning and to provoke enlightenment.

A vision of a cloud appeared before me. OH MY GOD! Pictured within this cloud were the heads of what I later determined to be spiritual masters. An Islamic man was wearing a turban, a Hindu man resembled Rabindranath Tagore, a Hebrew man, a Mongolian or Tibetan man, an African man, an Asian man, a Native American chief with a full headdress, and a Carmelite nun. It was a universal vision of interpersonal psychological importance. WOW! I gazed at the cloud, huh? WOW! I sprung out of my chair, and the cloud disappeared. I noticed an effulgent golden flaming light radiating off my body, especially my arms. It was a color more brilliantly golden and luminous than I had ever seen. It was a firelight. AWESOME! Vibrating out of the ether came an external locution of my Psychology of Consciousness professor Dr.Som Gay voicing the koan he gave us in class Words Are Traps. I am intuitively realizing that everyone is bombarded by language and this confuses our innocence while holding us back from noticing the natural state of our Universally Shared Consciousness. I became open to the fact that we are part of the exact Soul or Spirit that is in our different bodies under different conditions. We are ONE. I realized that we have the capacity for a natural awakening. Eureka everybody is like this, I am entering the Universal Consciousness of us all, I thought. Universal Consciousness or Cosmic Consciousness is the Life Force of everything. We are Universal Mind or Consciousness.* I realized that awakened consciousness is the consciousness that Jesus leads us to so we can psychologically know each other to consciously “love each other as ourselves.” Goosebumps covered my entire body and all the hairs of my body stood on end as I realized this primal truth. I found God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Great Universal Spirit, or the Cosmic Spirit inside myself and everybody else. I awakened to superconsciousness and this was a transfiguring experience. The energy of my body became intensely vitalized. Self-Realization-Enlightenment-Union * has always been the ultimate goal of all religions and traditions. I broke through the cultural and worldly conditioning that obstructs our Pure Spirit and contributes to our suffering. The main reason that we suffer is that we think we are separate from each other. It seems like we are in an interpersonal fog before realization. The clarity that comes with Self-Other-Realization makes us emotionally and psychologically sensitive to each other. We truly get to know each other. The knowledge became clear to me that we all have the same model of the inner self. You can call it what you want Words Are Traps. Our intuition is beyond words (intellect) and tells us the truth of “what is” when we are centered.

A vision, bathed in golden light, a locution, goosebumps, hair standing on end, this is ecstasy, this is bliss. My body became intensely vitalized. This was spontaneous kundalini arousal. Kundalini is the burning bush of Moses and the light that knocked Paul off his horse. Paul saw the light. Paul, Moses, and women and men around the world from all traditions become Enlightened.

This is my story. I achieved unity inside myself. My ego became almost whole as it unified with Pure Spirit. This integrated state is called Union in the study of Mystical Theology. I reached a permanent higher level of peacefulness while becoming much more settled – the peace that passes understanding. One undergoes a great feeling of permanent relief when one realizes that we all have the same Self in our different bodies. Everyone and everything has been called the Mystical Body of Christ. We are the consciousness of the earth. We realize what is going on with each other. We become interpersonally aware of our shared consciousness. We then understand what is going on with each other psychophysically. This is why getting to the root of our nature has been called Self-Realization. Self-Realization is Self-Other-Realization because we eventually realize that we are the same inside ourselves.

Holy Mystical Experience! After doing research, I realized that the heads that I saw were spiritual masters. I was never exposed to anything like that before but I later found similar paintings and pictures. Our Universal Spirit became clear to me. I realized the inner life of everyone. We are all ONE. The mystics from all traditions have tried to get this simple understanding across. I did more research and found out that God or Spirit will talk to you in a language and in a way that you will understand. I experienced the external locution of hearing Dr. Gay’s voice saying WORDS ARE TRAPS and I intuitively realized the rest. I highly respected Dr. Gay and learned much from him.

  1. This is indeed very interesting. But it’s a slow read and I couldn’t figure out how to copy it – as I prefer to read things later in my easy chair than on a computer. Years ago my instinct told me ‘hey, this guy isn’t really as crazy as he appears’. So I started paying attention and I’m glad that I did. Obviously there’s a real / serious ‘writer’ in here and we can only hope he sticks to it – as they say ‘writers write’ – so to produce other useful informational(s) going forward.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Dennis. At the end of the movie The Wizard of Oz, when the balloon gets away, Dorothy yells, “Come back” and the Wizard’s reply is “I can’t, I don’t know how it works.” I do not know how the formatting works for you to copy my blog post. My article is intended to be a slow read so as to put the reader in a contemplative state. Your kind words made me feel good. Blessings, Gary
